If you are flying into Dalaman airport then you can purchase the visa there. They only accept £10 notes there though. Hope that's some help. I dont think you need to get a visa in advance.
2 :
Indonesian citizens are visa exempt for 2 months in Turkey. However; In order to be on the safe side, I would advise you to call the Turkish Embassy in Jakarta- Indonesia: Tel: (62-21) 525 62 50 - 526 41 43. or Turkish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Tel: 00603 888 745 30- 00603 42 57 22 25-26. Hope it helps

See this link: http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa It says, Indonesian ordinary passport holders are required to have visa to enter Turkey. But I'm not sure if it is O.K to apply from Malaysia. Why don't you call and ask them? TURKISH EMBASSY in Malaysia: Address: 118,JLAN U-THANT 55000 KUALA LUMPUR Telephone: 00 60-3 42 57 22 25 42 57 22 26 42 57 21 19 Fax: 00 60-3 42 57 22 27 turkbe@tm.net.my EDIT: hey İpek, I didn't see you. : )

Can dental students earn money by working in a commission or something like that?
I live in Istanbul,Turkey and I am a dentistry student. I heard that there is some kind of a commission of EU, or UN that chooses dentistry stu. in each uni. and gives them some statistical work or something? Is there any other way for a student to earn money than assisting a dentist?

I checked with Travel! Yahoo (Travelocity.com) and found a flight on Delta from Istanbul to New York for $795 (624 Euros). If you fly into Baltimore (BWI) or Washington (DCA) it is $888 (697 Euro). You can travel from New York to Baltimore on Greyhound for $32, if you buy a few days in advance. http://www.greyhound.com/home.asp

How do I keep my girlfriend in the USA?
How do I keep my girlfriend in the USA?
She just graduated with masters on student visa... she is from Turkey has three months (i believe) from graduation to find a job. she is afraid that she will not be able to find a job that will assist her with sponsorship so we are considering marriage. if we DO get married (here in Massachussets) what is the process? how long will it take? will she immediately be able to stay?

she is using you for a visa you fuckkkktard
2 :
If a person enters the US and marries a US citizen, that person immediately becomes a US legal permanent resident (LPR). In addition, they are allowed to apply for citizenship two years before the typical allowed date (normally LPRs are allowed to apply five years less 90 days after they become an LPR, but LPRs by way of marriage may apply three years less 90 days after that point). All other rules still apply for application for citizenship. Marriage to a US citizen does not automatically confer permanent resident status nor assure citizenship to a foreign national regardless of the circumstances. Stricter immigration enforcement makes it difficult for foreign nationals to amend their visa status.
3 :
To summarize the process - you get married same way as anyone else, then file a bunch of forms (total cost of filing fees will be $1365, medical exam can cost anywhere from $300-$500), she will be be called for fingerprints, she will get a work permit within 3 months of applying that will allow her to work anywhere while the case is pending, both of you will be interviewed and if approved, she will get her green card. You will have to sign an Affidavit of Support and must meet the poverty guidelines in order to sponsor her ($19,000/yr for a household of 2). She gets to stay during the entire process. If everything goes smoothly, she should get her green card in several months.

How to gain CA Residency Status?
How to gain CA Residency Status?
I'll be applying for UC Berkeley in 2 years. I'm a U.S. citizen but we currently live in Turkey. Since we have financial problems my twin sister and I need financial aid to attend to college. I've noticed that out-of-state students pay about $20.000 more. In order to gain a residency status, while my sister and I are still high school students in Turkey can my parents rent an apartment in CA and gain residency status?

You mean rent an empty apartment while still living in turkey, and saying you are living in california. That sounds dishonest to me. sori : (

Israel and Turkey Visa question help...?
Israel and Turkey Visa question help...?
I am planning to go to Israel and Turkey in May. I am in the United States. I have international passport (non US citizen) and student visa. Do I need 2 visas to go to the trip? Thanks!

probably yes... but you dont state your citizenship
2 :
It could have been a straightforward answer if you would have stated your citizenship. Now I can only advice to check for yourself. The U.S. visa is of no interest to determine the visa requirements to Israel and Turkey; they are just dependent upon you [unknown] citizenship. To return to the United States you will need to get your I-20 endorsed by your Designated School Official (DSO) stating that you are in good progress with your studies. https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/572 .. The visa requirements for Israel can be checked here: http://www.mfa.gov.il/NR/rdonlyres/05664082-4C0C-4C2E-A593-C9D0C0B20C2A/0/VisaRequirements.pdf .. http://www.israelemb.org/ .. Visa requirements for Turkey are listed here: http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa .. Entry fee to Turkey at the border: http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-fees-at-border-gates-for-2010.en.mfa .. â—‹-â—‹-â—‹ @ Javed Iqbal: Thanks for thumbing down other answers (as you usually do) ! How are you able to determine that a visa is required if you do not know the citizenship of the asker? Citizen of Andorra, Argentina, or Austria for example would need a F-1/J-1 visa to study in the U.S. but can travel without visa to Israel and Turkey (just to name the ones starting with the letter "A") ! â—˜-â—˜-â—˜ Added: (based on the question you have asked two days later) " Going to Turkey with Indonesian passport? Do Indonesian passport need visa to go to Turkey? " For Turkey you can get 30 days visa on arrival at the Turkish airport/border gate.. For Israel you need a visa prior to travel.
3 :
You are a Non US Citizen living in United States on a student visa F1. therefore, you need to get two different visa both for Israel and Turkey

How to be an intern at Pixar as an international student?
How to be an intern at Pixar as an international student?
Hi, I have been searching for a long time if I have any possibility to be accepted as an intern to Pixar. I live in Turkey, graduated from electronics engineering. Now I work as a software R&D engineer at a Turkish TV company. My collage is one of the Turkey's top universities. I have also accepted from another good top university in turkey as a master student. unfortunitely computer graphics lecturer has died at the begining of this term and I decided to take a gap year. I like to draw tooooo much more than developing software. I want to apply pixar internship for "technical director" position. specifications required for this position is includes both engineering and art background. I am told that it is impossible to get in pixar without a paper submitted to SIGGRAPH. To achieve tihs I should study in an american university. I am wondering if I develop myself both in the area of art and science, can I be accepted as an intern? I am working as software engineer, working with C++ and linux. I can get modelling and rendering lessons from a turkish past pixar animator. I can also apply for a master program in a turkish fine arts university. After all, if I manage to prepeare a good demoreel, can I be a competitive candidate? I am an international student, does pixar accept internatioanl students also? what percentage of all accepted candidates is international students? I can apply for working visa in US however I don't know if US gives this visa easily and pixar prefers international students? I really wonder too much. this is my dream, I only want to be an intern there. But everybody asks me that whay pixar should prefer me when there are plenty of qualified US citizen candidates. Do I have any chance? If I have I will plan my two year according to this dream. please somebody help me :(

Don't raise your kids in Turkey or any Muslim countries! Keep them away from Muslims no matter what
2 :
Can you be a little more racist Jim A? Anyway, to answer your question (the Turkey part), children are not raised that differently then they are in America. They are required to go to school (most schools are public), they watch TV, they play computer and video games, and they hang out with their friends (go to malls, play sports, etc). Maybe some cultural values that are taught are different. For example, most people are Muslim and children are mostly closer to their families than they are in America. This answer is related to children in large cities in Turkey, like Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Izmit, etc. I am not familiar with the raising of children in more rural or suburban areas. I also suggest you ask more experienced Turkish people. Put this question in the Turkey and Australia sections and you will get many accurate and helpful answers.

Don't raise your kids in Turkey or any Muslim countries! Keep them away from Muslims no matter what

Can you be a little more racist Jim A? Anyway, to answer your question (the Turkey part), children are not raised that differently then they are in America. Jewish Students in Israel to Form their Own Flotilla to Turkey?
Jewish Students in Israel to Form their Own Flotilla to Turkey?
"Our wish is to talk with the members of the flotilla, to see if they want to talk to us, and to ask them why the problems of Israel, and in Gaza....are disturbing them," Toporovsky told Haaretz last night. "We would ask why they are not talking about the Kurdish minority or the Armenians that were murdered or many other problems? We want to expose the truth, this hypocrisy and the absurdity." http://networkedblogs.com/4FJvF what do you thing about this initiative?

Great idea to expose Turkish hypocrisy and the absurdity. But is it safe?
2 :
Naive Israelis... It could be very dangerous to them. What Muslims are allowed to do, others are not allowed.
3 :
If you were sincere, we have already given you the answers regarding PKK. However, what Israelis do not know is most of the "Turks" they killed were Turkish citizens of Kurdish decent and, therefore, even the so-called political wing of PKK harshly criticizes Israel. They will see that the group has many members of Kurdish descent. About the Armenian issue, there has never been any insincerity about the subject whether you believe this or that side of the story. However, Israel and its lobby sided and supported Turkish side for a very long time and now Israel supports Armenian side of the story. However, you still dare to talk about "hypocrisy" and "sincerity".
4 :
It's a nice idea Greenie, but I also think it's naive. If theywere a 100% sure that they would meet with real peace activists, interested in understanding and improving, that would be good. Unfortunately that does not exist. It will always be exploited and used by those that have no peaceful intentions whatsoever. And the geo-politics of the region are so important for so many rulers of so many countries that they can not just let that ocasion pass by.
5 :
I never heard of a blockade against civilians Kurds or civilians Armenians in Turkey. If there is a blockade against civilians kurds or civilians Armenians you can count me in your initiative as you should join in the humanitarian effort to stop the blockade against civilians in Gaza. You are missing the whole subject in here ,the Flotilla was a humanitarian aid for civilians not for military disputes or political reasons.
6 :
Turkey won't kill any of them believe me. They will give them all support they need instead. And Kurds have Turkish citizenship and they enjoy 100% full rights. Israel has lot to learn from Turkey before you all scream ' the only democracy on the planet'
7 :
An amazing way to take the attention off the 1.5 suffering Palestinians in Gaza.
8 :
It is a stupid idea, and one that will most likely get them arrested, injured, kidnapped or killed. They actually think that the brainwashed masses in Turkey or anywhere else really care to listen? or that they care to understand? They are brainwashed and blinded by hate, so this whole exercise is no more than an exercise in futility.

if you want to study at an american university the first thing you need to do is go to the university website. find the link to ADMISSIONS and there you will find information on the admission requirements for FOREIGN STUDENTS or INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS. Normally the process is as follows: 1. apply to the university (send the application along with the TRANSCRIPTS, or records from the university in your country.) (of course, if you do not have any college credit from your country then this does not apply to you) 2. normally in order to get accepted you have to provide evidence that you will be able to pay for your school costs as well as pay for medical insurance while you are attending school. This is normally done by filling out a form that will also be in the Foreign Students Admission section along with tax papers from your parents or from whoever is going to pay for your tuition that shows that they make enough money to pay. 3. you will also need to take the TOEFL exam. this exam can be taken in your home country. it measures your ability to read, write and speak English. Once you take this test you will also send the results to the school. most schools have a minimum grade in order to be accepted (get information on where to take this test by going to the TOEFL website.) 4. Once you get accepted the university will mail you a letter of admission which you will use in your country when you go to the United States consulate in order to apply for an F1 VISA (which is a student Visa for foreign students) That is pretty much all you need. there might be some special requirements depending on the university but overall this is the process. Try to go to the websites and get information for yourself because i might be forgetting something.

The NY Times is only written at the 9th grade level. Is it really that difficult to understand? So like this Turkish dude who is from a Kurdish Region of Turkey (do you know who the Kurds are? If not do a quick Wikipedia) decided to strap a bomb to his a$$ and take out himself plus 32 other people. The only problem is that he wasn't very good at his job and he's the only one that met his maker. Before this very sad event, the Kurdish illegal rebel group (called the PKK) had been enjoying a 2-month cease fire with the Turkish Government. Even though the PKK denied the attack and wanted to extend the cease-fire by another 8 months, everyone knows that 24 year old (now dead) Vedat Acar joined this really bad gang in 2004. He was likely training at a PKK camp in Iraq before returning to Turkey on in August. The Kurds are Turkey's largest minority and many hope for a peaceful resolution to the current fight which has already killed 40,000 since the early 1980s. Read up on the Kurds which I think is the only confusing part of this article unless you are confusing the country where this happened and the bird you are getting ready to eat on Thursday. Very different.

A new foreign language recommendation?
Hello, I'm an Engineering student from Turkey. Other than my mother language, I can speak excellent English and German. I'm now planning to learn another foreign language. What would you recommend as a 3rd language for an engineer? Thanks.

I would recommend French. It's relatively easy to learn and it's used all over Africa, the islands, France, belgium, switzerland, the maghreb, and even parts of Canada and the southern USA
6 :
Mandarin Chinese, 䏿–‡ï¼ˆæ™®é€š). it's a difficult language at first, but aren't all languages? I'm personaly studying it myself, and due to the fact the primary language if the world is chinese(mandarin), then english, then (i beilieve) Arabic.
7 :
Chinese or Spanish, lots of people speak those. I don't know what languages are good to lean particularly for engineers though

Should I kiss my hosts in cheek when I go to Spain?
Should I kiss my hosts in cheek when I go to Spain?
It sounds really funny, I know. Let me explain. I'm from Turkey and I'm going to be a guest of a family in Spain for a while, with a student exchange. In Turkey, when we meet with someone, we kiss them in cheek. Does it sound weird? Can they feel indisposed? Is there a tradition like that in the other countries?

yes this is normal in europe, you should kiss once on each cheek. Only in holland people kiss 3 times, one cheek, other cheek, first cheek. Everywhere else in central europe (including spain) its one cheek, other cheek, Finished. :-)
2 :
Yes it is a sign of respect and is very normal in European countries. As you are in the US we shake hands and if your in China/Japan you bow to show respect and greeting.
3 :
You have to , its a must trust me!! LOL... you kiss both cheeks OK??
4 :
You should take into consideration how they approach you in general. If they keep distant and silent, don't do it. But in Spain it is more likely that you will get a warm and friendly greeting with hugs and kisses from them. I don't think you need to worry about it, just be yourself.
5 :
Be sure to ask them which cheeks, before you do!
6 :
Yes, definitely. if not you will be considered unfriendly.

canadians studying in greece-student visa question?
canadians studying in greece-student visa question?
I am a Canadian citizen currently studying in Turkey. Some time ago I was invited by a Greek university by the Erasmus programme of the European Community. I am to stay in Greece for 6 months continuously. I wen to the Greek Consulate here in Turkey to get a student visa. However the Greek authorities told me that they could not issue me such a visa. I can only stayin in Greece for three months only with an entrance stamp. And I cannot exit and re-enter Greece unless I spend an other 3 months in some other country. If I were in Canada then I could go to the Greek Consulate in Toronto and apply for a student visa.. Since I'm in Turkey, can I send my passport by mail and get a student visa or can I ask the Canadian consulate here in Turkey to do all this for me?

I suggest you do the following three steps in parallel: 1. Contact the University that invited you, explain your situation, and ask for their recommendation. Ask them also to issue a specific letter of invitation for you, to use at the Greek Consulate/Embassy in Istanbul. This is your best road. [Ask if this can be arranged in Greece, but not likely, as Visas typically have to be arranged in advance.] 2. Sure, go ahead and ask the Canadian Consulate for assistance. However, this is not really their job, so understand that they may not really be able to help. 3. Call up Greek Embassies in other countries nearby, e.g Italy, and ask if they can do it, and if so, what would it take. Cite that you have A LETTER OF INVITATION from the Greek University. Once it's explained over the phone, go visit the embassy in person, bringing with you all the necessary documents. Good luck!

Yes they are following The message of the Quran.

As I understand it, Turkey is a predominantly Muslim country that has managed to escape the fundamentalist craziness. Good on 'em.
4 :
Because they've taken an extremist view of religion. A woman won't be accepted in a university in Turkey if she wears the headscarf. They want to show Europe that they also don't have any tolerance for anyone that doesn't share the same backwards Western views.

STFU

I think because if Muslims are allowed in those positions, they'll turn the country into a theocracy like Iran. That is the nature of Islam and the stupidity of the savages who believe it.

I fell in love with a transfer student.. What now?
I fell in love with a transfer student from west Turkey. He is amazing in countless ways, and I'd love to spend my entire life with him. He loves me too, and we are moving in together in May. But, there is always a catch, isn't there? He not only loves and misses his hometown to death and is always depressed when he leaves, but he has to serve six months in the Turkish military as an enlistment. But now I am in love with him and terrified that he is going to, in two years when he graduates, go back to Turkey and leave me broken hearted and chalk it up to "life," as he often does with hard situations. He has a "C'est la vi" sort of outlook. But I have had my heart broken before and I am completely terrified of being hurt, so any answer besides "follow your heart," which is really venerable right now, would be muchly appreciated. He just answers, "I dont think much of the future, babe." But I do, because I am safe guarding my heart. Does anybody have experience in this? If you do, please help. Thank you so much.

I think you asked this question because deep down you know what you've coming from this relationship. I hope you be smart enough to not move in with him because if you are serving the desert before the dinner he will just loose the appetite if you get my drift. This is real hard to tel you but from this relationship you will only come out with a broken heart. whatever you do, do not get pregnant because then you will be crying not only for the man but also for your child. It's another culture, and another world all together, In the best of the hypotheses lets think that you would get married and you would follow him to his country if you get accepted into hes country. See when its another country you need to get an visa to get in and an permit to live there and you don't get in the country just because you're married to one of their citizens. And there's nothing anyone can do its up to the country to let you in or not. I don't think you need to worry about this though because if you read between the lines your boyfriend is telling you right now that he has no intentions to be with you in the future when he tells you he does not think of the future. you just have to open your eyes and decide what you want to do about this situation a broken heart hurts to much, there's an decision to be made here and your heart is fighting it but your brain is yelling at you to wise up and get out now and cut your losses short.Have you done a little research into his culture? His religious beliefs, the traditions, rituals, I mean anything that could tell you about how he was raised and what his expectations would be for a wife to see if you even fit in? I am sorry to be telling you all these things. I know they are not what you want to hear. I am telling you this with the best of intentions so if you stay with this guy do not stay with hopes that he will stay here because of you or will take you with him when he leaves. Good luck and Happy new year or you.

My dear, I just read your post and thought to give you some similar examples from my life. I understand you are in love and let me tell you; it is going to be difficult along the way . I married an international student from Istanbul while he was studying in the USA. It has been 7 years since. Turkish man do make good husbands. However you must be prepared for anything that may come along your path. I know you love him but how much are you willing to sacrifice in the name of love? All Turks I know here in Atlanta are moving back home as soon as over with school. Are you ready in the future to live there? Are you Muslim? Are you ready to have your children ( if any in the future) Muslims? Are you familiar with the traditions and their way of life? Do you cook , clean, and act like a modern day "slave"? It is something that is in their culture , a woman does everything for the man...You have to explore deep inside you and ask yourself if you are ready for this. And one more thing; usually Turkish man prefer to marry one of their own , trust me, and they are all blindfolded by marrying a "virgin" if possible. I do not mean to discourage you ; as I said Turks make good husbands. I have adjusted better because I come from a different culture and we are accustomed with everything mentioned above. Think it clearly and rethink your love ;if you think you truly love him and are willing to sacrifice a lot , then go for it.. As for myself ...we are moving to Istanbul this summer. .... Take care and let me know. Christina

Do I need to take the YÖS exam in Turkey?
I'm a Palestinian. I graduated from high school, and I'm going to study medicine in Turkey next year. One of the requirements is 40 points in the YÖS exam for foreign students. I've heard that Palestinian and Jordanian students don't need to take this if they have a minimum average score of 90 in the Scientific Stream. Any help is much appreciated. thanks :)

2 :
I haven't heard this to be honest, but in my opinion it does make sense. Contact the Turkish Ministry of Education or the university you will be attending for the exact requirements. As a side note you could always apply for medicine in Jordanian universities; no further requirements will be needed from you, and their curriculum is considered to be one of the most advanced in the Middle East.

How many americans think Scotland is in England?
Don't feel embarassed. I used to think Washington and Washington DC were the same place. . I also used to think Instanbul was the capital of Turkey. I overheard a student once who thought that Thai food came from Taiwan! Own up to your geographical blunders. Don't feel ashamed, we have all made some mistakes.

As a grandson of the former President of the Clan Montgomery Society International, and having spent many summers at Scottish Games in America, I would have to say I've known Scotland is not the same as England for quite some time.
4 :
When I was small I might have, but my grandfather had a map of the British Isles posted in his home office and I learned the difference at an early age. I get confused by the countries that used to be the USSR--I can't ever remember their capitals.

Probably a lot. We don't have a lot of emphasis on geography here. It isn't taught in classes. I know that Scotland isn't in England :). I used to think the same as you with the Washington bit haha. I'm not a geography whiz though. Did you watch Miss Teen USA 2007, when Miss South Carolina messed up really really badly on her geography related question? I thought she gave Americans a really really bad name.

Student Visa Complications?
Student Visa Complications?
Hey everyone, so I was studying in Egypt when the revolution started. Unfortunately, my school forced me to leave and sent me to study in Istanbul, Turkey. I have an acceptance letter from a University here, but I need a student visa. They wont let me to continue to study on tourist visas. They are saying I need to go back to the states to apply for one, as you can imagine that is expensive and very inconvenient for a student. My question is how can I obtain a student visa in Turkey, or in a near by country!? Please help!

1 :
you can be communication with Turkey and another Embassies information Desk. You will be get in there a complete information about student visa. so go to the Embassy
2 :
I'm not an expert on Turkish student visas but I would guess that you can apply at a Turkish embassy outside Turkey. Usually you do not have to return to your home country but you do need to apply outside the country. I would recommend talking to your school's study abroad coordinator. This is the sort of thing they should really be helping you with. The Turkish school may be able to help as well.

Modern day Samsun, Turkey?
Modern day Samsun, Turkey?
I'm going to Turkey as an exchange student for my 11th grade year. I'm an American teenage girl, and I was wondering what should I know about this town? Modern day Samsun. I've been to Istanbul before...but Istanbul is pretty close to NYC. You can wear anything you want and do almost anything you want. But I know that Samsun is something different. So any tips?

Dress modestly. Keep shoulders, upper arms, chest, waist, and upper legs covered. Samsun is a city ....
2 :
It depends on where will you go in Samsun.Because If will you go the center of the city, you can feel comfortable and you can wear almost everything you want but If you go to the suburbans or If you go somewhere that closer to the villages,I think you won't feel comfortable enough because people are usually different there :) I haven't been in Samsun before,I'm from Istanbul but I heard and know these things about there. Anyway,Istanbul could be better for you because it matches with your life style as in NYC.
3 :
I was born in Samsun.honestly ı can say samsun is more liberal than istanbul.ı lived 20 years in samsun and now ı live in istanbul so it is easy to compare two cities..istanbul is sometimes a disturbing city for females cos there are too many perverts in the city samsun is not like istanbul.so be easy about samsun.
4 :
There aren't that many Turks in Samsun. Most of them are Kurds and they are conservative. basically cover yourself up and don't try to flirt with anyone. It's like opposite of Istanbul.

Purdue is one of the top schools in the U.S. Considering there are more than 3000colleges vs ~100 in Turkey going to a good school makes life easier once you graduate. I don't have that much info about the campus or the student life there but I wouldn't worry about those. Just tell him to go and study. Computer Science is very good too. BTW tell him to be active and not to spend all his time just for school. Either getting a work experience even if its for a non profit and not paid or attending events, being active helps a lot in different ways.

Making personalized T-shirts for our girlie week away to Turkey, is my idea geeky?
6 of us are going away to Turkey for a week and we're not into partying and drinking like most 20 year olds. We're all students so instead of having nicknames on the back of our T-Shirts we're going to have what we study, so the back of the shirts will say "Physio" "Medic" "Artist" etc except for one girl who's obsessed with guys so her shirt will say "Stalker" Is this a really geeky dumb idea? Just wanted peoples opinions before I made them! Thanks!

sounds cool to me. its a fun idea and if they look like normal shirts (not completely wacky) then your friends would probably love them. may want to get their opinion though instead of asking random people on the internet. lol

What dremel attachment is best for cutting chicken/turkey bones?
What dremel attachment is best for cutting chicken/turkey bones?
I am a science teacher and my students will be examining various bones. I need to cut chicken/turkey/ham bones both in cross sections and longitudinal (length-wise) sections. This will allow students to examine the marrow cavity, spongy bone, and compact bone. Originally I thought a hack saw would work but then I thought a dremel would be better and faster. However, I am unsure what type of attachment would be best for this type of cutting. Any suggestions?

There is no best cutter. Some of the fine abrasive cutting wheels will do well on the poultry bones. A spray of water will prevent dust from flying and the marrow from cooking. Bone dust is a potent irritant. The ham bone requires a larger tool. You might be able to talk your local butcher into doing this on his band saw.

If I have a US student visa, do I need to apply for a visa to Mexico for a 5day vacation?
If I have a US student visa, do I need to apply for a visa to Mexico for a 5day vacation?
My boyfriend has a U.S. student visa and wants to come on vacation with my family to Mexico. He's originally from Turkey. Does he need to apply for a tourist visa?

No, if you go to Mexico they automatically stamp you for 6 months.
2 :
NO, i saw it on Futurama a few week ago
3 :
No need for tourist if its less then 6 months. They'll check the passport at the border and stamp it.
4 :
No he does not Mexico allows people to stay in the country for 6 months with no paperwork. All he needs is his passport and student visa to cross the border.
5 :
Does his U.S. student visa allow him to leave and reenter the U.S? Not all do. Some of them are issued for one entry into this country only. It never hurts to check with a Consulate or immigration office when in doubt. It would not do for him to leave the U.S. and not be able to get back home. (Many foreign exchange students are issued one-entry student visas to the U.S. He should check to be sure his is not this type.)
6 :
I think, when he leaves the immigration office, all he needs is to inform Mexican immigration that he will stay for 5 days. It is Mexican immigration he will have to talk with.Of course, he too has to pass through U.S. immigration, or file a deportation card even if Mexico is just the other side of the border. Best, to consult both immigration. Be very careful, America is just itching to throw all illegals outside their border or outside their sea limit. If I were you people, play safe. This is not the right time. Everything is so hot because of the Arizona Law which targets the illegal. What if he lost his passport, or stolen from him, what then. He definitely will be in for more trouble. Postpone it. Its to hot at this time.
7 :
YES! Mexican Immigration Laws are a lot stricter than the United States!!! I wish foreigners would quit using our borders as a see-saw, thinking they can bounce from one side to the other anytime they damn well please!!!! When I was in Europe, I had to carry my passport around with me, and when I stayed at a hotel, the management demanded to see my docoments! Even in my own country!

Is it safe for Israelis to travel around Turkey?
I'm Israeli, I'm a college student and I want to go on a vacation to Turkey with my older brother for a couple weeks. We have never been before, so I just want to ask is there anything to be concerned about and is it safe for Israelis to travel around in Turkey? Is there anything to avoid?

I have a couple of Jewish friends in Istanbul who told me that they are very comfortable there. In fact, when their great grandparents fled Cordoba after being expelled by the Christian it was the Ottoman empire which readily accepted them and provided refuge. I have been to Turkey many times and trust me, they are very humane people in spite of their defensiveness so you are bound to feel welcome there. That said, Islamic fanaticism does exist in some remote areas in Turkey as is obvious from the news. I once attended a wedding at a synagoge in Istanbul and they had to block off the entire road because a madman once opened fire there and killed 29 people. I would advise you to keep a low profile about your Jewish identity in rural area.
2 :
Given that Turkey has had a substantial Jewish population for many centuries, I would imagine you won't have too many problems. Yes, really.

I have some Jewish friends in Turkey, some of them live here in Istanbul, some of them are living in Istanbul but from other cities like Bursa, Izmir and Antakya. You can check out the synagogues of Turkey here: http://www.musevicemaati.com/index.php?contentId=24 http://www.eurasiatourism.com/pages/About_Turkey/Religion/synagogues1.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_synagogues_in_Turkey You don't have to tell everyone that you're an Israeli or Jewish straightforwardly, because some people may be sensitive on the Israeli-Palestinean issues but generally, you can do whatever you want. Turks are in fact tolerant and hospitable people. Even though it was Ramadan - the religious diet month according to the Moon Calendar, I saw lots of people drinking beer and wine on the streets, in the parks, taverns and restaurants...etc. because it's a secular country and nobody can blame anyone on their religious/non-religious preferences.

If you are a Turkish student and you would like to participate in an interview, please leave your email address as well. Is it going to be easier for me to get into Harvard, because I'm really into astronomy and astrophysics?
Is it going to be easier for me to get into Harvard, because I'm really into astronomy and astrophysics?
I'm just wondering if it is going to be slightly easier for me to be accepted in Harvard. Because not a lot of people (at least not as much as people who tend to get into different departments) like or let's say choose astronomy for their college life. But I don't know. And also what qualifications do I need to get into Harvard astronomy??(Or maybe Oxford. You choose) I'm 14 and just graduted from middle school. Also, I'm an international student( From: Turkey)

Harvard is a top school for astronomy, especially since it includes the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, one of the top astronomy research institutions in the world. Don't expect by putting astronomy or physics down as a major it will be any easier to get accepted. Also, there really aren't any jobs in astronomy if you don't have a PhD, and if you want to go to grad school in astronomy, you should be majoring in physics, not astronomy - astronomy, math, and computer science courses are useful/necessary as well, but physics is essential for getting into grad school in astronomy. Harvard only accepts about 7% of applicants, and fewer foreign applicants. You need very high grades and test scores just to have a chance of getting in, and then you need to find some way to stand out. Having some experience in astronomy - either as an amateur or in research - could help a lot.

Eri is right on, as usual. I just want to add my two cents with regard to the impact of your prospective major on your admissions chances. To put it simply, it's just not very important. A sizable majority of students enter college not knowing what they want to study, or else wind up changing their plans at least once. Beyond that, undergraduate colleges, unlike PhD programs, aren't usually trying to fill spots in certain niche fields. The traditional criteria will still be the overwhelming factors that determine your admissions. That said, I can think of some scenarios where your interest in astrophysics has some superficial impact on your application. First of all, it's a relatively uncommon academic interest, so any substantial experience you can produce in your applications may make you stand out a bit. Second, the fact that you're able to connect your interests and long-term career goals specifically to the reputation of one of Harvard's departments and/or faculty can help to strengthen your argument for why you want to attend the university. "Why Harvard" essays can become boring pretty fast. Doing some homework and actually connecting to the university in a real way can only help your chances.

2 :
No, she can't change a fiancee visa to a student visa. What happened with her fiancee visa? Did she travel to USA on a fiancee visa? How long did she stay in USA? When did she go back to Turkey? I understand that she is currently abroad in Turkey. If this is the case, she will need to apply for an appropriate visa before coming to USA (e.g. a student visa if admitted to a US college; or a visitor's visa if she plans to visit you in USA, etc).

You do need a visa; you could either obtain it beforehand from the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa or at the border when you are entering to Turkey http://www.turkishembassy.com/II/K/visa_requirements.htm "Immunizations are not required for travel to Turkey. However, it is recommended that all booster shots be up to date" http://www.turkishembassy.com/II/K/FAQ.htm#2 You will need a letter of consent from your parents since you are an underage student to travel with another person and to be outside the country. Turkish Consulate in Ottawa has toll free number which you can phone them for clarifications Consular Call Centre at 1 888 566 7656, between 08.30am – 17.30pm hours at Central American Time zone.
