Why do we have to fight about the same stupid stuff over and over again. If you have issues with what people do or don't wear you should see a therapist.

I dont know. I read a news article on that topic twice and was still confused about who was on what side regarding what. I do think though that many, many people, Christian and Muslim, see Turkey as the 'frontline' of a Muslim migration to Europe. It could be related to that.

It should be freedom for every woman. without it she has no recognized status. just because of her headscarf they shoulnt be classified as minors, idiots and criminals

It is really an example of freedom, because everybody has the right to study, but I think that turkey is strongly laic, so, there is a little fear of islamization, I think. The government doesn't help, because, in my opinion, it tends to islamism. Personally I think that a girl with headscarf has the same right to study than a girl without it, but these covered girls often rather not to study and wearing their headscarves than to study and not wear them. Its also sad. I think is more important to study, altough you have to change your clothes in the classroom. It's complicated, there are a lot of points of view, and a lot of them are perfectly fair.

I have two daughters and they do not wear the head scarf, if however they chose to and they wished to attend University then I would fight for their right to do so. Education is all important it should not be dispensed to certain sections of any community and not to others. However, the issue you speak about here is a symbol of Political Islam. I am totally against anybody using their religion to hide behind i.e. pursuing their hidden agendas via religion whatever that religion maybe. Politics and Religion should always be separated like the separation of powers in any liberal democracy. The wearing of head scarves in Government held positions I am against, if you choose to work for an employer any employer you should agree to their terms. If you do not like their terms then don't take the position. The Republic of Turkey is secular whether we like it or not, (and believe me when I say I do like it that way as per my comments above keeping religion and politics separate), so those people who wish to wear head scarves should choose a more appropriate position for themselves. If they wish to live in a nation ruled by Islamic Law then they can always move to Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan etc etc True democracy involves the majority of people consenting on an issue not just over 40%.

IT IS NOT HEAD SCARF,IT IS TURBAN please understand that part. It is political symbol. After that freedom,you dont know what they are going to want. They are not talking about men's dress code, they are talking about my ( women) dress code. Your freedom is not in danger, mine is.

Forcing someone to take off their headscarf is comparable to forcing someone to put on a headscarf and it a violation of basic human rights. It is also against human dignity.

Before AKP, I could wear a decent sleeveless shirt in the street. Last summer I wore one and I was subjected to the grunts of a bearded sub-human. The sad part is, he had a boy with him. I can imagine how that father is poisoning the mind of that child right now, teaching him how women like me are sl*ts. Headscarf issue, isn't it? How innocent it sounds when you say it like this!

I'm not a Muslim but I find headscarf totally acceptable as the nuns are acceptable in their sterile outfit. It's a personal choice that has nothing to do with anybody else and we have to respect that.

There is nothing wrong in wearing the scarf, Turban, Yemeni carsaf, or any other clothing , or headcovering,, people should wear what ever they choose , providing it is worn with in the dress code parameters that is not too embarrassing as in reviling to much body flesh, over dressing or over covering should be left up to each individual to choose their clothing Freedom of choice is the way forward , It is Nonsense to restrict people wearing head covering of any sort,, it dose not address any issues that some may think ,,

Well, I've answered a similar question before, but apparently your question must have been deleted, so I'll say this again: Turkey is run by a secularist government. The schools are run by the government. The headscarf is part of the Muslim religion. Therefore, wearing a headscarf in school is against the government's secular idea. It doesn't really sound too fair, but that's just the way laws and ethics work. It's all about rules and not about fairness. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter whether a girl can wear her headscarf. If you think about it, they're the same person without it. The headscarf is only a piece of cloth and I think they can survive without it. Plus, if the girl felt strongly about this issue, then she can simply be home-schooled.

What? they talk about putting a pressure on those that don`t wear head scarves. That means, like wise, all those that have been wearing mini skirts and tank tops have been putting a latent pressure on the others to wear them too and that has been going on for decades. Is this logical?

PLEASE READ MY ANSWER:: i have to ask people say that if we let headscarfs then the country will not be civillized and modern then let me ask you isnt america civillized ?? yes it is. Since Turkey wants to be modern which is modern already as a turk myself i ask to be modern and civillized dont you have to give people equal rights if so you dont know the answer i'll tell you ,yes you do you have to if you are a democratic country
