What are the students visa policies in Turkey?
Hello everybody.. I would like to ask you guys some simple questions. First of all, i belong from Karachi,Pakistan.. I am a dedicated and talented student who wants to study in a foreign university..I am currently doing my pre-engineering from Pakistan.. My interests are in Physics(i literally love it),English(i am usually the best in class in it),Maths(can do good if have a reasonable teacher),Chemistry(Kinda o.k in it). My aim is to get a bachelors degree in Aeronautical engineering from NUST,Pakistan. But if that fails, then i wanna go for any bachelors degree in Physics.. So,i kind of wanna know about the universities(with hostels) in Turkey, as it seems like a good country to start my higher education and later on my professional life..So,can you please tell me the immigration policies in Turkey..God Bless

Which city to choose for summer clerkship and fun?

Which city to choose for summer clerkship and fun?
Hi I am a medical student in Turkey and I have won the right to make a summer clerkship in Spain. My aim is to have fun and discover all corners of Spain. I have right to choose 3 of them: CADIZ,GRANADA,VALENCIA,CORDOBA,SALAMANCA,MURCIA,ALICANTE,OVIEDO. Please help me and tell me the reason to choose that city.

I am familiar enough to know that Granada and Sevilla are REALLY great cities...I see that Sevilla isn't on your list...add it if you can. Barcelona, too, is good. Of the five you give...I'd say Granada first, Salamanca, and Valencia. That order. I imagine that the Moorish heritage will interest you at least as much as it does everyone, it is strongest in the South.
2 :
HII!!!! I am from spain! and I can give you a little advice: the south (cadiz, granada, cordoba) gets pretty hot at summer. if thats not a problem for you, I would recommend cadiz. It's sooo pretty and you can go to sevilla wich is 1 hour away from cadiz and the beach is close too. I wouldn't say cordoba, it's pretty tough, but it's the less interesting of those 3. the same with granada. I have been in valencia and I love it! the beach is close, and valencia is not realy hot at summer as granada or cordoba. You have the oceanographic, and it's really pretty. but between valencia and cadiz I would definetelly chose CADIZ you can do a tour of the well know ''white towns'' they are gorgeous, the beacj is closer, the souther people are extremetely nice. The only problem with cadiz is that they speak with a southern accent that you might not understand for the first days cause you might not have been used to it, called andaluz. So if that's a problem for you go to VAlencia. Salamanca is know as the student city, its FULL of students and colleges and schools, but in my opinion is not as fun as valencia or cadiz to spend the summer.... so i would go either to cadiz or valencia, I prefer cadiz 20000 times better! : the people, landscape...but valencia is awesome too. maybe I prefer cadiz because I have been more times in valenca than in cadiz. if the southern accent is not an outcome for you I WOULD GO TO CADIZ! if the accent is a problem: valencia! good luck!!!

International law is the term commonly used for referring to laws that govern the conduct of independent nations in their relationships with one another. It differs from other legal systems in that it primarily concerns provinces rather than private citizens. To read more go through the source provided below.
3 :
Doesn't Turkey honor international copyright laws? If you give a legal thesis to a journal without permission of the author and it is published, you and the journal will be sued for stealing the thesis. If you are going to steal intellectual property, a lawyer is the victim who will be most dangerous for obvious reasons.

Being a student, I need to travel on an extreme budget. Can anyone tell me the general cost of things in Turkey in dollars? How much is the street food? What is the cost of restaurants (of course, the ones students go to)? How much do hostels cost there? How much can a person get by with for one day? You can cheap food everywhere. Turkish fresh fruit and vegetables are cheap and various than many countries. Try to buy from street markets. American fast food is expensive. Stay away from western coffee shops, try tea! Tea is the cheapest drink everywhere! It is usually free at restaurants after your meal. Try restaurants where locals go. Do not be afraid of trying new things. Not too much backpackers guest houses or hostels around but can find cheap hotels. Prices varies according to cities. A cheap example from 2 years ago: 20-30$ per night off season . Do not forget! room rates are usually for 1 person not per room! Be sure about the rate before check in! Have a nice trip! you can have a good time with a limited budget in Turkey don't worry!

What has Turkey invented/discovered that impacted the world?

What has Turkey invented/discovered that impacted the world?
I had to read a book for one of my courses. The author stated that the Turks and Hindus never had any good ideas, and that he was thankfull that the French education system taught students the ideas of the Romans. I know...what the heck? My favorite part is when he contradicts himself in the book and states, "Does it follow that we shall then cease to associate with each other, to help each other, to love and succor our unfortunate brothers, to study the secrets of nature, and to strive to improve ourselves to the best of our abilities?" Again...what the heck? He now states that society should help each other out. But then why is he slamming Turks and Hindus for not helping out improve our society, when in fact they did? And if he loves to respect and associate with his "brothers," then why does he go around dissing turks/hindus?

Ulcer and bacteria relationships were discovered by Robin Warren an Australian. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6338357.stm http://www.turkgastro.org/text.php?id=217 Discovery 1: Helicobacter pylori In 1979, Robin Warren, a pathologist at Royal Perth Hospital, observed spiral bacteria in a biopsy specimen taken from the stomach of a man with nonulcer dyspepsia (Marshall, 1989). Using a microscope, Warren saw severe gastritis and noticed microorganisms coating the mucosa (see Thagard, forthcoming-b for details about the use of the microscope). Over the next two years, Warren observed the bacteria in many specimens, usually associated with gastritis (Warren and Marshall, 1983). Turkish Doctors in Bursa are on the leading edge of future break throughs http://rheumatology.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/44/10/1327 For fun, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xciMO5Megr0 On the serious side http://www.muslimheritage.com/uploads/TurkishScience.pdf If you've ever been to a shopping mall or train station you've probably been to a kiosk. But the kiosk as a building type is not a new invention. As a building type it was first introduced by the Suljuks as a small building attached to the main mosque. It consisted of a domed hall with open arched sides, gradually evolved into a summer house used by Ottoman sultans, perhaps the most famous of these kiosks are the Cinili koshk (kiosk in Turkish) and Baghdad koshk. The first was built in 1473 by Mohammad al-Fatih at the Topkapi Palace, Istanbul, and consists of a two storey building topped with a dome and having open sides overlooking the gardens of the palace. The Baghdad Koshk was also built at the Topkapi Palace in 1638-39, by Sultan Murad IV. The building is again domed offering direct views onto the gardens and park of the Palace as well as the architecture of the city of Istanbul. Sultan Ahemd III (1703-1730) also built a glass room of the Sofa kiosk at the Topkapi Palace incorporating some Western elements, such as the gilded brazier designed by the elder John Claude Duplessis which was given to the Ottoman Ambassador by King Louis 15th. The first English contact with Turkish Kiosk came through Lady Wortley Montagu (1689-1762), the wife of the English ambassador to Constantinople, who in a letter written in 1 April 1717 to Anne Thistlethwayte, mentions a “chiosk describing it as ‘raised by 9 or 10 steps and enclosed with gilded lattices (Halsband, 1965 ed.). Where would we be without, INVENTION: Trouser Fly INVENTOR: An Unknown Turk YEAR: Before the 1700s HOW INVENTED: According to Allen Edwardes: "The Turks introduced the fly to Europe between the 18th and 19th Century. It was a button model, which lasted until the introduction of the zipper.

Hindus are found mathematics. For Turk's which century is he asking ? Answer is too long .
5 :
That you can become an empire without touching people's faith and life style. I can't think of a better contribution to humanity than this. And Hindus came up with the idea that the way to achieve happiness is achieving the self and this idea has affected many other religions, including Islam and Christianity. Again, I can't think of a more relevant contribution than this. That author doesn't have a clue. Edit: I saw this link in eksisozluk, people: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_inventions
6 :
Before I get to the point I have a couple of comments to make: Kiosks derive from an ancient Greek architectural form, the so called "Tholos", which is a round building surrounded and supported by piles. The most known one is the tholos of Delfi. Also hamams are the greek-roman "Thermae", an invention of the Hellenistic era, a primary sample of which we can see (in ruins) at the city of Dion (secred city of ancient Macedonians, under Mount Olympos), and developed ones all over the cities of the Roman Empire. Among the most famous are the Caracalla's Termae in Rome. Bysantines kept this tradition, and Ottomans succeded them giving back to these baths the social caracter they had in Roman times (places for relaxation and socializing as well). Which leads me to the heart of my answer: Even more important than inventing something is to be wise and open enough to maintain what you find or adopt what is useful and beautiful, no matter where it comes from. Ottomans did that, either it was Bysantine or Persian or European. But what we could define as their top achievement is Diplomacy. In fact, Turkiye is well known for her diplomatic "machine", in relation with both its structure and its effectiveness and power. And I think that had a great impact to the world for hundrends of years.

a. $700 for food b. $54 for two 7-Day MetroCard c. $20 for the laundromat & liquid/powder soap If you need cheap things, go the the nearest Dollar Tree. Snacks, toothpaste, toothbush and more can be found there for $1 each. So far that's about $800 for the necessities. If you plan to explore the city and shop, have $300 to $500 more. The MetroCards you have should get you in for free at some places or discount admission. http://www.mta.info/metrocard/tourism/mc_promotions.htm Good luck with your studies.

Greenland. It is much more interesting and they love christians. They speak english.
2 :
Having the vast options like yours, from one end is being science and the opposite is social studies (aka arts), I would most certainly look into spending a week studying endangered species in Africa. Your major must be quite interesting!
3 :
simply it is up to you. geology and politics are totally disparate subjects of interest. i'd choose greenland cause i know enough of turkish culture and politics since i am turkish lol
4 :
Turkey is a nice place to spend a week.
5 :
My humble opinion is: You can travel anytime to Greenland as a tourist, but spending a week in Turkey in such a program is probably more interesting, you'll experience a multifarious culture intimately, get to know lots of various things, enjoy your studies and stay while being catered for, which is quite different than going there as a tourist, where you wont experience it so closely, stay at some hotel and will look from the outside.

My child only eats turkey sandwhiches for lunch and dinner?

My child only eats turkey sandwhiches for lunch and dinner?
Are there any side effects to this... my child is a college student so I can't inforce on what she eats since she's out of the house...but she doesn't get much from just a turkey sandwhich and for breakfast its always a bagel with cream cheese or an english muffin with peanut butter... what should I do???? this is not a phase of her's as most think... so she won't come to find out that she's getting "sluggish" because she could eat turkey sandwhiches for every meal
Adolescent - 11 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
talk her int to health drinks
2 :
As long as she is eating dont stress about it. Some people just get in food ruts.
3 :
Well, if your "child' is a college student, then really the "child" is an adult. I would try not to worry. I would try to focus on other things. Why are you watching what your college aged child is eating? clearly, she's not anorexic. her choices seem fine. many college students survive on noodles. I think the bigger question here is why are you so fixated on this? Move on. She is an adult.
4 :
One college student + adult student at that = you can't do a thing about it. Just suggest to her and chat with her why she does this.
5 :
Hey! Don't worry about your baby. (Talking about being so attached. It's okay, though. We all pass through that) I would recommend for you to leave her. She is an adult, and she does get her nutrients, but with time. She will feel slugish. She'll notice this, and she can't stay with this food to long! :) Don't worry! She'll change!
6 :
try to get her to drink protein shakes.
7 :
tell her that u are concerned and u just wanna know why she wont eat anything else and maybe she'll tell u a reason and u'll feel better
8 :
English muffin + peanut butter is actually quite good for breakfast. You get carbs and protein and fat (some fat is good). It would be nice if she had a fruit or smoething in there but some people only have coffee for breakfast so she's a step ahead of them. Turkey sandwiches are also carbs and protein and if she adds cheese, there's dairy, and any lettuce ot tomato is fruit/veggie. Does she snack at all or is that all she eats? If thats all she eats then you should have a casual conversation with her and let her nkow you are concerned. If she eats otherwise, then she's fine and will probably change when she craves something else.
9 :
it could be a form of weight control. try talking to her about eatting right and weight issues.
10 :
I understand that it is difficult to let go and realize that your "child" is an adult, but she is. If you think back to those years in your life, you will most likely realize that you preferred very limited choice of foods to eat. You cannot do anything other than be supportive of her and offer her a variety of foods when she is home, in addition to those that she picks most often. She is eating protein, so that is better than if she were only eating all junk food or only lettuce or only rice cakes like some young ladies choose to do. This is the time of her life, when she will be learning to take care of herself, based on what she has been taught by you and her family. Good luck with readjusting to having a grown up child in your life. It is a big learning process. You will do more for your daughter by trusting her and letting her learn how well she will feel with certain food choices. She will learn. I can remember consuming a lot of cup a soup and boxed mac and cheese (the powdered cheese product which has never been near a diary farm....a chemical farm maybe....) and I quickly learned I had to eat a real meal and real vegetables once in awhile to feel my best and be my best. Good luck and I am sure you will both survive this learning curve with flying colors. Have a good day.

It seems that you have a bigger issue with this than your kid. And your kid is in college? Good God man get a grip! And what should you do???? Let your kid eat without trying to control it. Sounds like finally they got outta your controlling influence and maybe discovered Turkey after some vegetarian regime and can't get enough turkey sandwiches. The kid is in college man. You are done. Now you can just be the person your kid jokes about behind your back with visitors and spouse, or you can possibly let go. Time to cut the cord. Let em live their life. Don't be the in-law that scares the kids. Don't be the in-law that makes em not want to come visit. And see a shrink, cause you seem to have more issues than your kid. Good lord who pays this kind of attention to what their college age kid eats? I'd be worried more about what drugs they are taking or the weekend bungee jumping they arent telling you about. Not to mention the parties and other benefits of college.

Yes you can apply to study for a MA in any of the 27 EU countries. But you have to pay international fees. Plus you have to prove that you have enough funds to support yourself while studying in that country.

I spent 2 years studying in Erfurt, but when it was still a Paedogoegishe Hochschule, not yet a university. The city is wonderful, I still miss it now. As with all cities, there are places to avoid going to (especially if you aren't white) but the town centre is clean, safe and has been largely restored since German unification. The uni campus is in the Andreasvorstadt part of town (the northern approach to the centre) opposite the main hospital and with good tram and bus links to the centre. As a foreign student you'll probably be put into the hall of residence "Wohnheim 6" (Wohnheim Sex, as we knew it...)which is just behind the new library. By German uni standards, it's ok, I lived there for 2 years and loved the atmosphere. You don't want to find yourself in Wohnheim 1, which is miles off campus and 3 to a room. You may have to share a room with another foreign student, and you may be able to choose who you want to share with if you arrive before the start of the semester. If you want someone who is fun and relaxed, pick a Belgian, if you want to party, pick an English student and if you want to study hard and go to bed early, pick a Czech or a Russian. You should have a large foreign community at the uni, we averaged 40 or so foreign students per semester when I was there. A lot of them are from the former Soviet Union and don't speak English, so you have to speak some German already to hang out with them. Take the Deutsch als Fremdsprache courses, my old professors are still running the same ones I did when I was there and they helped me greatly. Also if you like politics try to take at least one class with Dr Thumfart, and Dr May has a history class which is compulsory for students from Belgium, it's so good. The International students' office is helpful and Frau Linde and Frau Schloesser, the International Office staff, are both lovely (hope their English has improved, though...). Check out the websites below for more info (webcams on erfurt.de), and have fun. Wish I could go with you.

To give you the extra information you wanted about discrimination, Erfurt is one of the safest places in the former East Germany. I'm not sure if you're from Istanbul or Ankara university, but in both cities there must be areas that people don't want to go to? In Erfurt there are places to avoid especially around and beyond Leipziger Strasse and Magdeburger Allee (and around the main station at night, but then that's the same in every city worldwide), but in the centre you should be fine. The problem you are most likely to encounter is one of initial distrust, but be friendly and many people will be fine, even if they aren't used to speaking to foreigners. It's a much more cosmopolitan city than when I first went there in 1997; back then the only foreign language you heard on the street was Russian and most of the English-speaking population could fit into the largest theatre at the UFA-Kino for the English-language film on a Tuesday night...no-one spoke English in shops, restaurants or banks. It's changed a lot now, you even find English menus in some restaurants! Places I would suggest you avoid visiting because of possible violent discrimination: Magdeburg (the only place I ever felt unsafe in Germany, and I look German!), Rostock, Cottbus, Suhl, Saalfeld, Ruedolstadt. In these places unemployment is over 20% (sometimes nearer 30%) and foreigners are often seen as being to blame for it. An asylum hostel was firebombed in Saalfeld while I was in Erfurt, but that hasn't happened for a while now. Don't let a fear of discrimination worry you before you arrive; be sensible about where and when you go to places and you won't have any trouble. Places for a day trip (some such trips may be organised by the Uni, we had 3 or 4 when I was there): Eisenach (the Wartburg), Gotha (the Drei Gleichen castles), Weimar, Leipzig, Dresden, Coburg, Quedlingburg. Places for an overnight stay: Berlin, Bamberg, Kassel (the Wilhelmshoehe). One thing I forgot to mention: most German students go home for the weekend, so from Friday afternoon to Sunday night the foreign students are all together (they are always in the same residence, often sharing rooms or apartments). Even if you want to work hard all week, make sure you get involved with the foreign students at the weekend. To my mind, it's more important that you take the opportunity to mix with all the different nationalities at the weekend than it is to get good grades during the week. Lots of overseas students will want to organise trips to places, so tag along! Use the link below to research any of the other places I've mentioned here. You are going to a city that I love, where I would love to go back to and settle down. I hope you feel the same way about it when you have finished your stay.

Advice for someone going to Turkey?

Advice for someone going to Turkey?
I'm from Ireland and I'll be going to study in Turkey for 3 months as part of a student exchange programme. What should I expect from young adults in Turkey? One thing I'm not sure about is religion. Is Turkey a very religious country? Should I be open about my atheism or will this alienate people? Also, as alcohol consumption is haram what do young people there do for fun?

turkey can be considered religious, but the government is secular. and the youth and the people in general are very tollerent. as long as you don't insult them. unless they bring it up don't mention your atheism. alcohol is haram but turks don't really care about that rule. we drink(i never drank in my life) turkey is one of the most tolerant countries on earth. as long as you don't insult us. than you'll feel what hell is. btw, forget everything you see on the news. stereotyping will get you nowhere, it is important to note: it snows in turkey ,
2 :
You didn't say which city you are going but i assume it's İstanbul. Turkey is more conservative compared to western European countries, and people are sensitive about their culture and their religion. But don't worry Turkish people are tolerant in general and they love guests. Nobody will care about your atheism unless you make them think like you don't respect their religion (Islam). But i recommend you to stay out of religious discussions just in case. Yes alcohol is haram in Islam, but Turkish people drink anyways and there is a live nightlife in Istanbul (bars, concerts, etc). I didn't hear of anyone who got bored in Istanbul. There will be cultural differences of course, and some little misunderstandings because of different languages but nothing that mutual respect won't solve out. Have a good time!
3 :
Dont worry. I assume you are not going to study theology, so relax. :-) Young ppl are pretty cool and you can have lots of fun with them.. I studiest abroad till my senior year in high school. I had the same worries as you when my parents forced me to go back with them to Turkeybecause I did not know Turkey so well. I finished school here and believe me, 2 years here in high school was so much fun! Hundred times better than in Germany.! I wont even mention university.Youll be surprized when you get here. Modern, open, friendly and cool friends! Have fun and good luck!
4 :
you have to observe there strict rules when entering the mosques. and churches.

Which is an easier method to study in the US? Being a transfer student, or applying with SAT from scratch?
I'm currently enrolled in METU, one of the best schools in Turkey. If I wanted to continue the rest of my undergraduate course in the US, which one of these is the better option to follow? Also, I would be glad if you could give details for financial aid for both of the options.

I hope in our current financial situation ($12 trillion in debt and counting with obama spending like a drunken sailor) we aren't giving financial aid to foreigners...if you come here please be prepared to pay your own way...we have enough people sucking off the government teats, we don't need anymore, especially foreigners.
2 :
Try to do the easiest. I would do SAT.
3 :
It is usually easier to get in as a transfer student. You already have a collegiate record, and schools like to see that. Starting from scratch looking like a new student doesn't look as appealing to them. Which colleges were you thinking about? There is still a lot of financial aid available...especially if you are a minority, posess a special skill, or are going into a certain field (a lot of specialized fields (ex: microbiology especially DNA study) offer full scholerships) The best way to get information from the colleges you are considering is to call them. Their councelors are amazingly well educated on grants, scholerships, and financial aid.

Why do we eat turkey on Thanksgiving?

Why do we eat turkey on Thanksgiving?
I teach English to students from other countries. We've been talking about Thanksiving recently, and my students keep asking why Americans eat turkey on the holiday. The only answer I can come up with is "it's traditional." I've tried to research the answer, but I discovered that there's no record that the pilgrims really ate turkey on Thanksgiving, which is the answer that most people give. Can anybody give me a good explanation to give my students?
Thanksgiving - 7 Answers

1 :
i would imagine that's a given, wild turkey would have been the game of the season. i suspect they had fish and maybe some other type of game as well.
2 :
Turkey is a new world food. It is easier to hunt than deer, and is large enough to be appealing as a food for a feast. I think over the years it has become symbolic of the new things that the Pilgrims came across in the New World.
3 :
Well i am only 10 so i wild take a guess. Maybe it is because that was the only animal they could hunt or something, or it just tasted good! lol
4 :
Cause in the past they ate DUCK and deer with beans and i dont think we wanna eat ducks :P
5 :
Because during those times mostly in America other than deer, and bison, turkey was seemed as very plentiful and festive in a way. But a lot of things served today weren't in thanksgiving like pies because there wasn't enough sugar.
6 :
Well, the only two items that we know the pilgrims ate are wild fowl and venison. I have been researching this question as well because my eighth grade students have been asking the same question. One answer I found is that Queen Elizabeth delighted in the taste of turkey. When she found out the Spanish Armada had sailed to fight her navy, she ordered a second turkey at the dinner table. It became a favorite of the people in England; thus, they started this tradition of eating turkey during a meal to give thanks. This would make sense since wild fowl was in abundance.
7 :
Because the Pilgrims were wayy too slow to catch any other type of meat, so thats why we, to this day, chase around turkeys to put on our dinner tables for thanksgiving dinner.

Visit this site for basics. Doesn't mean you have to buy a honeysuckle brand turkey. I usually purchase store brand and it's just as yummy!
2 :
I would get the turkey roast , with this way its easier and it only bakes for 2 hours in the oven.
3 :
It's not hard, just follow the directions on the package.
4 :
Maybe just buy the parts of the turkey that you like and cook that. I am scared to death of trying to bake a whole turkey and have only done so twice in my life, but I will bake just the thighs or the legs or the breast. Today I cooked two thighs in the crockpot. And last year it was just my husband and I and believe it or not we had sloppy joes made with ground turkey on hard rolls and we loved it. That is how we had our turkey. No stress, no mess and we were happy.

What risk is there for elementary kids to help prepare a turkey lunch in a classroom, besides the risk of burn
Our school of special ed students is planning on preparing a Thanksgiving lunch. (about 40 kids). The turkeys will be cooked at home by the teachers. However, cans of corn and peas and stuffing will be prepared in the classroom. Many of these kids drool, pick their nose and play pocket pool. help me.
Cooking & Recipes - 14 Answers

1 :
use microwaves.
2 :
I don't think it's such a good idea if the kids are that messy. Would you feel comfortable eating it knowing what the kids' antics are? It's probably better if they watch and learn.
3 :
I wouldn't eat it
4 :
a huge foodfight. hahaha pocket pool? well that could make for some yummy stuffing?
5 :
haha have them wash their hands before class. try to tell them that picking your nose or anything like that shouldn't be done, and stress that. alot. get some hand sanitizer and tell them that if they sneeze or cough to be sure to cover their mouth and use the hand sanitizer afterwards. it shouldn't be TOO dangerous.
6 :
yeah...i definatly wouldn't let those kids make the side dishes with everything you listed...also they could cut themselves on the cans as well...if it was only a few kids then i would say just make sure their hands are clean and you watch them carefully, but theres no way you can keep fourty kids from picking their noses and whatnot
7 :
make sure u eat b4 attending this... also just get plastic plates, make kids were gloves, wash their hands before preparing, open the cans urselves, give them the sandwhich part to make...
8 :
An undercooked turkey, or stuffing that hasn't been properly heated, is a breeding ground for bacteria. People get sick from it all the time. Be careful with knives, forks, and other kitchen tools. Big heavy cans can fall on little feet. Ouch!
9 :
have them wear rubber gloves
10 :
Why would playing pocket pool have a adverse affect on their turkey lunch? Now you could run into trouble if they were fixing Meat ball sandwiches.
11 :
I am a former preschool teacher and cooking was something we did on occasion. The thing you need to keep in mind is supervision. Watch the kids, where are their hands going, are they wandering away from the table to return again. Those are the things to keep in mind. Teach them to keep their hands clean while cooking. Do a couple of cooking activities before the event to work out a routine and to teach them that clean hands are necessary when cooking. Have a floater walk around the room to monitor the kids. If they pick their nose or pick up something off the floor then the floater can assist you in being sure that the children's hands are clean. As for the drooling kids, they may not be able to cook but they can participate with the decorations. Most of all, keep you cool. If you get upset so will they. Stay calm and if you need help do not be afraid to ask someone to help monitor the children.
12 :
there is the risk of cross-contamination due to poor hygiene practices (poor kids, don't know better) and I'm actually suprised to hear that you can actually bring homemade food into the class because of the same reason. You have to make sure the turkey is fully cooked to 165F for 15 seconds to eliminate bacteria, like salmonella, which immune-poor individuals can be susceptible to. if these kids get any food-born illnesses, your butt will be on the line, good intentions or not. same with burns. if these kids go home sick and burned, you may be sued. If I were you, I'd leave it up to the kitchen staff to oversee the food prep, and let the kids make their own plate, not a community plate, unless you're willing to eat from it also.
13 :
first get them all to use antibac on there hands then split them in to groups and get one group doing the corn the other groups doing the other veg and stuffing good luck
14 :
Well now is a good opportunity to teach them about being clean around food. Use latex gloves and for those who drool let them watch.

What are some ways that can make being a vegetarian easier as a High School student?

What are some ways that can make being a vegetarian easier as a High School student?
I am trying out being a vegetarian. I already don't eat red meat pork or anything besides chicken, turkey, fish, and seafood. I tried being a full vegetarian once before in Middle school but that didn't work. Any Ideas?????
Vegetarian & Vegan - 10 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
First of all refraining from red meat and pork while eating poultry, fish and seafood doesn't make you a vegetarian. It has been my experience that vegetarians/vegans expect others to accomodate their dietary hangups. The best way to deal with that is to simply make your own lunch. So make and pack your own lunch and then you don't have to worry about what's in the school lunch.
2 :
Hi My best friend is a vegetarian also, and we are in 11th grade. She packs her lunch and puts things like veggie chicken nuggets (these are so good, better than real chicken!) yogurt/pudding/jello nuts, granola bars veggie sandwiches You can put together a healthy vegetarian lunch very easily! And most of the same things would be included in a non-veggie lunch anyway!
3 :
How didn't it work? If you try to stick with it, then after a while being a vegetarian will be easier and you don't have to try not to eat meat. I'm in highschool and am a vegetarian and i pack my own lunch with peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, an apple, celery and carrots, a water bottle, and maybe some cereal or cheez its. My school also sells veggie subs so i can eat those or cheese pizza.
4 :
surf da net, talk 2 other veg*nz , read bookz about veg*nism 2 know wut iz owt there u can eat n 2 make sure u r eatin rite n doin it 4 da rite reason
5 :
I agree with the people above that making your own lunch would stop your temptations from buying poultry and fish from the cafeteria. For your lunch you could include quorn chicken pieces (their my favourite!) some salad, vegetarian jelly ( you can buy this from your local shop) and quorn ham pieces (this is also available from your local supermarket.
6 :
the best thing i can tell you is, BRING YOUR OWN FOOD everywhere. especially if you're vegan. becoming a vegetarian wasn't hard for me whatsoever... so i can't really help you. Just remember not to eat Jell-O. i believe that Horizon makes vegan jello :)
7 :
just stay away from it it may be hard but try outher food without meats or buy a meat pizza take it off and if you cant keep trying
8 :
There are many books about being a veggie, but I find the best place is the supermarket. Wander around a little, you'll meet loads of new foods that you (or most people) haven't met before. Take them home and have a play =) If your school is useless with veggie meals take a packed lunch, _also_ write your head a nice letter saying that your a veggie and you'd appreciate some more options. Try and find other veggies in school to ask them for advice, they can give you the best as they know the school area etc. A sandwich, bag of crisps (potato chips), a yogurt and an apple/banana/peach/pear is what I used to take to school for packed lunch. Occasionally I'd make some pasta and a sauce and take them in in a pot. If your taking pots in, there's nothing you can't take! As long as you don't mind eating it cold. Fruit Salad, Potato salad, Mashed Potato, Falafel! Your imaginationn is your only limit, being a veggie only cuts a small proportion of your options out when you actually look at it.
9 :
Yup, even though restaurants are becoming increasingly sensitive to vegetarianism, you really need to learn to cook for yourself to be successful and healthful. There is a wonderful book called "The Clueless Vegetarian" by Evelyn Raab which teaches you how to cook vegetarian meals for yourself in a straitforward and completely comprehnsive way. The book is designed specifically for teenagers and young adults who have less experience in the kitchen and need to learn to cook easy, tasty and nutritious meals. Seriously, check it out.
10 :
When I was at school, I just brought my own food everyday. Practically nothing from the cafeteria was suitable for me... but it was a great decision. My food tasted better, was healthier and I saved a lot of money.

How is it possible to stay with a Turkish family during the month of Ramadan for a non muslim student girl?

How is it possible to stay with a Turkish family during the month of Ramadan for a non muslim student girl?
I am going to be studying in Turkey for 3 months this summer. The family I am staying with is going to fast during Ramadan and I am not Muslim. I've heard they wake up middle of the night to eat, If I don't wake up am I being rude to them. Thanks for your help.
Turkey - 8 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Hahaha, no it wont be rude not to wake up. And might be that they wont be fasting at all. Tho if any of them are fasting, during the dinner time, wait for them to start and start eating with them. Funny that i remember now, my grandfather has never fasted and my grandma always did. So he was waiting for her to break her fast so that he can start as well. And with what had he always started? Hehe, RAKI!
2 :
couldn't be more possible. as greetingslosers said, no it is not rude if you don't wake up at all. It would be rude of them if they wake you up ^^ by the way not everyone wakes before dawn to eat before fasting, my mom fasted for long years without getting up early to eat. anyways i'm sure the family will turn out to be real nice and you'll be fine. so worry not. enjoy your stay in Turkey.
3 :
no problem.. maybe they dont fast at all, or for few days. or if they do maybe they dont wake up. if they wake up you dont need to. but it would be kind to wait for them to start eating during dinner, that's all.
4 :
Turkish people are very understanding in those kind of situations and very kind to their guests. All in all we are famous for our hospitality. So... I am sure they won't mind you not waking and they won't mind you eating in front of them as well. On the contrary they will insist that you don't wake up and eat whenever you want. However common decency requires for you not to eat in front of them while they are fasting. If you woke up with them or asked them to wake you up it would be a nice gesture and would mean a lot to them, moreover you would get a chance to understand the true meaning of that holly month, it would be a nice experience. Learning another culture is always fun. Should you try it I strongly advise against going to bed right away after the meal. As you know Ramadan falls on summer this year so not eating anything will make them very hungry and pale so try to start eating with them. The dinner as we call it "iftar" is going to be marvellous. Enjoy!
5 :
1)They get up around 5 not the middle of the night 2)It is not rude, they will take no offence but I recomend you try and get up for it (just for the hell of it) Ramadan breakfast and Dineer is usual very good. 3)Probabbly your care takers will prapere a breakfast for you and if not (wich is highly unlikly considering they are willing to look after you) you
6 :
I think they will be understanding.
7 :
lol I'm the only person who is fasting in my family and they get mad at me when I wake them up. But it would make you feel uncomfortable to eat during fasting time. You might prefer to eat in your room. and it'd be so kind if you wait for them for dinner. most of the turkish muslims are very tolerant people, no need to be worried. and try not to get drunk a lot. they wouldn't say anything for a glass or two but they might be disturbed if you stink alcohol.
8 :
EVET TABI KI!!! (yeahh of course!) you won't have any problem, turkish families are soo friendly, belive me "europeans families are more rude and more cold" :D is true!! they don't wake up at night, they eat when sun goes, and they usually do like a "family dinner" , you'll welcome in tht =)...... You can eat too!! don't worry about anything... belive me, you'll feel like in ur home... hmmm maybe you know what is the biggest "risk" of tht???? :D In love of turkey!! and never want out!! :D

What country should I go to for my student exchange?
I can't decide what country I should go to for my youth exchange. Sweden, Switzerland, Finland & Estonia, Gremany, Turkey, Brazil, Japan, India, and France are my choices. FRANCE, Switzerland, Brazil, Germany :)
2 :
Maybe because Japan, India and Turkey are in Asia. I agree with your parents, go with one of the European countries, i'm thinking Germany because Germany has the most borders and you can just walk to another country. Germany, Sweden or Finland should be your top 3.
3 :
I'd say Estonia.
4 :
Out of all of these countries I've been to Germany, France, Sweden, Finland and Switzerland. Taking into account your parents don't want you to travel as far away as Asia my top three would be: 1.) Germany (Lots of fun for a student and plenty of great cities and sights to see) 2.) Switzerland (my favourite country in Europe) 3.) Sweden (if it's Stockholm, you should probably love it, amazing and beautiful city) I lived in Bordeaux France for 15 months and loved the city and the country, but living there was quite difficult. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't live there again.
5 :
Any one of these would be a great experience for you. What are your interests and exactly when would you be going? I can highly recommend Sweden, Germany and France but certainly wouldn't criticize any other combination. I've been to all of the European countries you listed (and live in Italy) and enjoy each one.

A monk once told me ''to live a long life, you must be an optimistic person''. I also heard that eating bananas reduce your stress but other than that.. Super fruits are the best.

You can make all kinds of pureed soups to freeze and eat throughout the week. Start with an aromatic base (onions, garlic, carrots, and/or celery) sauteed in oil, add some chicken stock and simmer your vegetables until easily pureed in the blender. Add a touch of cream or buttermilk at the end for the extra mile. Spices/aromatics always needed.. onions, garlic, cilantro, chili powder, onion salt, italian seasoning, various vinegars, cumin, fajita seasoning. Any kitchen pantry needs all types of canned tomatoes and sauce, chicken stock, beef stock, veg stock (if you don't make your own), flour, brown sugar, sugar, cornstarch, baking powder Your refrigerator needs milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt (I use in place of sour cream). You could make some enchiladas and freeze for reheating throughout the week. Recipes vary here and searching the net could help you. ___ If you really want to learn to cook for a lifetime and stop eating so much fast food, perhaps you should look into a book that teaches you about cooking like martha stewart's cooking school, how to cook everything, or joy of cooking).

-Whole wheat pasta with traditional sauce and meatballs, Stir-fry broccoli with chicken in black bean sauce(chinese sauce), Veggie pizza you can buy at whole foods market, -For snacks, you can try those Fiber One snack bars, or Quaker Oats snack bars. They have a lot of different flavors to choose from. -For turkey wraps i put light Caesar dressing, or honey mustard.

You should get a crock pot and learn how to cook beans, chicken, soups, stews, etc in it. Healthy and economical.

What would you do if you were the Minister of Education in Turkey?

What would you do if you were the Minister of Education in Turkey?
IMAGINE: you are the new minister of education… What would be the first thing you would change, add or remove? Spend tax payers’ money on building more schools, purchase new equipments for teaching.. Would you more focus on all rounded student, reduce the number of exams for each student should take OR keep them as they are even go ahead and increase because you think there are not enough.. What would you do when it comes to university placement?

I'd spend money on the existing buildings. Are they ready for an earth quake? They should. I'd try to build a system that gives more importance to Industrial high schools. Electrician Barber Tailor Gardener Kindergarden teacher Language skills Biomedical Carpenter Secreterial skills Computer skills These exist but are not good enough. You have to get private courses to learn extra things. If they were good enough , many people would stop trying to fantasize about university education. Many people get education that's good for nothing.

I would close at least half of İmam Hatip schools, reopen Halkevleri in rural areas. And, I agree with Amada on industrial high schools.
3 :
Provide leadership, guidance and resources to help schools meet the educational needs of all students. Provide resources available for educating homeless children. Provide resources available for educating children with special needs. Ensure a quality public education for all children in economically disadvantaged communities so that high school graduation rates increase and graduates are prepared to enter and be successful in college. Encourage to strengthen the relationship between families, schools, and local communities.

Main thing would be to push for increased funds for education, this would really help the future of Turkey. Another thing would be to make the OSS available couple of times a year where everyone in their third and fourth year of highschool is able to take it as many times as they want. Only the beginning of what I would do...

Above answerers have given good answers. I know that the Ministry of Education doesn't have the authority to increase the budget it gets, so I'd rather be the Prime Minister. :) I would increase the budget ministeries of education and healthcare get. I would start an effective system to detect and wipe out corruption (I have to make sure the money is well spent). Then I would pick one of the above answerers as the Minister of Education. :) Running a place, any place, is team work. We would work together to pull public administration together.

Well, I can only answer from what I know at present because both my children go to state schools in Turkey. I would first of all, say that more funds are badly needed for school equipment. So many state schools are run down and in bad condition. More computers are needed, better classroom equipment is needed. State schools reply on the pupils' parents to fund for needed equipment, simply because the funds from the government is just not enough. We have to provide everything from paper, books, computer money, stationary, electric bills - everything! The government looks after the civil service men very well, but totally lack sympathy when it comes to governemnt run schools. There you go, there's my rant!

This question is mine lol 0- NO PRIVATE SCHOOLS! NO MONEY FOR SCHOOLS (üniversite harçları and kayıt parası)! EQUAL EDUCATION RIGHT TO EVERYONE! 1- NO TO YÖK! FREE UNIVERSITIES! 2- Today the foundation who gets the most money from the government is Diyanet İşleri even it's not needed. So I would use their money to build new schools. My priority would be primary and high schools. 3- I would make deterrent sanctions for the parents who don't send their daughters to the school (both primary and high school). This can be money or jail punishment. In the future the education level would increase and I wouldn't need those punishments (I hate giving punishment). 4- I would make teaching in Anatolia (especially in the East) essential. I would give extra money to the teachers who stay there. 5- I would change the school books (sorry but I would only use them as toilet paper). No memorizing in the lessons. 6- Every school must have science and computer laboratories. Also library is needed. 7- There must be exams in the schools to test the students but the questions shouldn't ask must-memorized things. 8- Students must read at least 4 books in a month. 9- I would open Köy Enstitüleri instead of Meslek Liseleri. And I would make it common in the villages. 10- I would change the school subjects. For at least 7 years, students learn (or should I say "memorize"?) the same things. I would add "recent history of Turkey" and "world history" in history lessons. 11- University rectors must be chosen by the students. Students must have an important place on decisions of university. 12- Government must provide all the school equipments to poor students. 13- Learning reading-writing would be essential for all people. I would give free courses for adults who need it. 14- No SBS and ÖSS. My idea is: Different exams will be prepared by the government for all levels. For example the best high schools of Turkey will choose the students with a different exam than middle-leveled high schools. And if a student wants to go to a good high school, he must be good at school lessons. My aim is to make school's importance increase. Because I hate dersanes. Not every student can go there. They are the symbols of capitalism in education.

I wouldnot know, working in TR even tough for its own citisen but it still depends on your branch, an invitation etc. ur business. speaking of truth difficult, but comfortable so I do, needs to try...
2 :
There are certainly tremendous differences between applying for a government job and applying for a private sector position.I believe international diplomas are recognized by the private sector companies in Turkey and I think a master's degree from a reputable university can be very valuable as you climb the corporate ladder.Good luck
3 :
If you will not be working in government, yes, you can work in Turkey in a company. You have a UK diploma and companies will make you work. By the way, this is just a result of idiocy, not recognizing a europe university.
4 :
