Ground chicken/turkey in freezer, what to do?
I've had these two packages of either ground chicken or turkey in my freezer for weeks now and I have no clue what to make with it. I'm a college student so keep in mind I don't have too many other things to cook the chicken/turkey with.

Chili comes to mind, add some tomato sauce, seasonings and a can of beans. Simmer and there's a quick meal with leftovers which you students always love!
2 :
I've used it instead of hamburger to make sloppy joes or cooked it up and added a packet of taco seasoning to make nachos or tacos :)
3 :
Fry it up with taco seasoning and make tacos, nachos, or put in a salad.
4 :
Buy a box of stuffing mix and mix it with the meat. Fry or broil and you have very tasty burgers!
5 :
Brown it and add a jar of spaghetti sauce. Cheap and good.
6 :
Ranch Chicken Loaf If ground chicken isn't available in your grocer's meat case, ask to have some chicken ground; they'll happily do that for you. INGREDIENTS: 2 eggs, beaten 3/4 cup ranch-flavored tortilla chip crumbs 3 Tbsp. salsa 2 Tbsp. ranch-flavored salad dressing 1 tsp. chili powder 1/2 tsp. cumin 1 lb. ground chicken PREPARATION: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, mix together the eggs, tortilla chip crumbs, salsa, salad dressing, chili powder, and cumin. Add chicken and mix gently but thoroughly. Shape into loaf on slotted baking pan or broiler pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour, until internal temperature registers 175 degrees F. Cover with foil and let stand for 10 minutes. Slice and serve with sour cream and more salsa. Turkey Porcupines Porcupines are meatballs which contain rice. The rice cooks along with the meat in a savory tomato sauce. Serve this delicious main dish over more cooked rice. INGREDIENTS: 1 lb. ground turkey 1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice 1 onion, finely chopped 1 Tbsp. olive oil 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 Tbsp. olive oil 1 Tbsp. butter 2 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. dried basil leaves 1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves 1 cup water 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce PREPARATION: Cook onion in 1 Tbsp. olive oil until tender; let cool for 15 minutes. In large bowl, combine ground turkey, uncooked rice, cooked onion, salt and pepper and blend well. Shape into 16 meatballs. In large skillet, heat olive oil and add meatballs. Brown carefully, turning gently to cook evenly. Sprinkle sugar, basil, and thyme over meatballs, then pour over water and the two cans of tomato sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover and simmer for 40-50 minutes until turkey is thoroughly cooked, stirring occasionally. 4 servings Tex Mex Turkey Loaf The spiciness of this simple recipe depends on the spiciness of the salsa you choose to use. You could add some shredded Cojack cheese tothe mixture, but that would make it four ingredients! INGREDIENTS: 2/3 cup salsa 1 egg, beaten 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/4 tsp. salt 1-1/4 lbs. ground turkey PREPARATION: In medium bowl, combine salsa, egg, pepper, salt and mix well. Add ground turkey and combine. Form into a 6" round loaf and place loaf on a rack or balled up foil balls in a 3 quart crockpot. Cover slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours, until turkey is thoroughly cooked. 4 servings
7 :
go down to the butcher shop and see if you could trade it in on some ground meat or maybe a steak
8 :
I love ground chicken. My favorite thing to do is make taco meat out of it and make enchiladas. I don't feel as guilty then about all the cheese!
9 :
make burgers out of the turkey/chicken serve them on whole wheat buns and call it close to real food. if you dont have alot of food throw a little pot luck and get your friends to help create a meal like one brings the buns, another brings salad, another brings french fries...you get the point and that way you can have dinner and a visit.. dont forget to invite that one friend who always has money for beer over too. guess what he's bringing? lol
10 :
I would do something simple like make spaghetti since you do not have much at your disposal. Brown the poultry and add your favorite sauce. Presto. Also...if you splurge and go out and by grill seasoning or a taste dried soup mix you can add that to the ground poultry, make patties, and cook them up like you normally would do burgers. Top them with ANYTHING and serve on a bun. Mmmm...turkey burgers.
11 :
You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for ground beef in pretty much anything. Spaghetti, hamburgers, chilli... whatever you want!

Are there opportunities for international intern teachers in Turkey?
Are there opportunities for international intern teachers in Turkey?
For my last semester in university, I will need to be a student English teacher. I wanted to do this in Turkey, instead of in my country (Philippines). Would it be possible to find a teaching position (volunteer/unpaid) in Istanbul or Ankara? I understand that there are several ESL schools there which aren't too discriminating about the teachers they take on, but would it also be possible to teach at a regular school (e.g. highschool) even being only an intern teacher? Also, would it be doubly difficult since I am a foreigner? Thanks for your help.

I went to a private middle school in Turkey, Istanbul. In private schools, during high school or middle school they really look for foreign teachers. Because that is when they want you to start to practice talking English. You actually have to talk English in class after sixth grade in my school. n 8th grade we had three teachers. One main teacher(there were only 46 kids in 8th grade) Mrs.Franko who teached us grammar, Mr. Mcdowell for reading and vocabulary, and twice a week Mrs. Luis for speaking(we had 11 english classes- we took english the most) . Only Mrs.Franko was turkish. Mr.Mcdowell was Amerikan and Mrs. Luis was British. So i'm sure you could easily find a job in private schools. You can find one in public schools too but i didn't go to any so i'm not sure. About discrimination part I'm going to be totally honest with you. I don't think you're going to be discriminated because you're foreign because there are many foreign people in Turkey especially in Istanbul. Biggest discrimination you'll face would be if someone thinks you are a tourist and try to sell something more expensive than it is normally, but they don't do that much in Istanbul so I don't think you're going to even face that. Good luck and have fun!

How long does it take to get a student visa for UK?
Hi. I am from Turkey. I am planning on applying for a masters programme in england. How long does the visa process take ? If I apply on August can I get a student visa by september ?

The visa application procedure can take up to two months.
2 :
Cannot be answered in general since it depends on the quality of the supporting documents provided. A total of 71 student visa applications have been processed by UK representatives in Turkey during the month of April. The processing time was as follows: 13 visa applications have been processed within 2 working days 10 - 3 days 9 - 1 week 20 - 2 weeks 6 - 3 weeks 9 - 6 weeks 3 - 12 weeks 1 - longer than 12 weeks Note that processing time starts when the application reaches the Embassy or Consulate; not when the biometric data are taken at the WorldBridge application centers. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/resources/en/docs/10368946/processingtimescustomers ..

Is it safe for Israelis to travel around Turkey?
Is it safe for Israelis to travel around Turkey?
I'm Israeli, I'm a college student and I want to go on a vacation to Turkey with my older brother for a couple weeks. We have never been before, so I just want to ask is there anything to be concerned about and is it safe for Israelis to travel around in Turkey? Is there anything to avoid?

There's nothing to avoid. Turkey was one of the first countries to recognise the state of Israel. It is very safe.
2 :
Of course not, they will accept you with open arms :)
3 :
Yh. We will accept you with open arms after all YOU have not done anything to us.
4 :
yes

İs it written on your forehead that you re jewish you dork.Or you think we have jewish testers at the airport. What a dumb you are.
6 :
sure its safe here in Turkey we live together shoulder to shoulder with so many different people from so many different cultures.this is the country where Rumi lived and his processors. visit personalguideistanbul.blogspot.com i can help you here.
7 :
Sure, you're welcome here. There's nothing you should avoid, I mean no one is going to engage in a political debate with a tourist. Don't worry we don't have any problems with the Israelis. I know there are many Israelis visiting Istanbul and Antalya. Have a nice trip.
8 :
of course you'll be safe actually you'll be safer than your own country just avoid moonlight turkish muslima is a f*%#ing amnernian TROLL report that cümsukcer bıötçh
9 :
don't be silly love, theres nothing to avoid. in fact, during the holocaust Turkey along with the US was one of the countries that took jews and let them settle in different parts of Turkey. there are thousands of jewish turks in turkey so don't be scared. and just ignore th trolls here, we have no problem with Israelis or Jews, the only people we don't like are Zionists and that's a different matter. but of course there are few odd that are just plain racist and anti-semitic, but then again don't you get that in every race and ethnic background? just have fun x edit: people need to get a life here. not every jew supports what israel is doing. the scumbag who made the comment about germany is just sick in the head and needs putting down, plus she aint even turkish so i dont know why shes on this question! *rolls eyes at the amount of ignorance*
10 :
Yes, it's really safe. In fact a lot of Jewish people live in Turkey especially in Istanbul. Have a nice day..
11 :
An Isreali is wondering about safety?LOL Yeah, dont worry Turkey is really safe..
12 :
It is definitely safer than the shit hole you come from.
13 :
I have a couple of Jewish friends in Istanbul who told me that they are very comfortable there. In fact, when their great grandparents fled Cordoba after being expelled by the Christian it was the Ottoman empire which readily accepted them and provided refuge. I have been to Turkey many times and trust me, they are very humane people in spite of their defensiveness so you are bound to feel welcome there. That said, Islamic fanaticism does exist in some remote areas in Turkey as is obvious from the news. I once attended a wedding at a synagoge in Istanbul and they had to block off the entire road because a madman once opened fire there and killed 29 people. I would advise you to keep a low profile about your Jewish identity in rural area.
14 :
It depends, many Turks have strong feelings of support for Palestine. In fact, if you met me on the street, I wouldn't immediately give you any SERIOUS problems but if i found out that you supported israel i would most likely just walk away from you to avoid becoming upset. Not trying to be rude, just giving you my honest thoughts.
15 :
I'm Turkish. I live in Turkey. I absolutely hate israel. But i would still show you respect.

I have no problem with jews. i have problem with zionist baby killer jews who support netanyahu and ultranationalist likuid party.

If you have a degree from your own country you can even apply for a graduate program. Your questions need more knowledge and experience for an appropriate answer. They would be processed in the country of entry. You say an "American visa" but don't say what American state, is it going to be in Brazil or Cuba or any of the other 35 American states??
3 :
there isn't any medical examination required for a US student visa.

The best mean of transportation since you will be in Thessaloniki is the "Filia/Dostluk Train." The journey is overnight and it takes about 11 hours. Here is a very good website that will help you : http://www.letsgoistanbul.com/tren.htm I am sure you will like Thessaloniki and also Istanbul is a magical city that you should not miss visiting. Enjoy !
2 :
You can check with a travel agency or here http://www.metroturizm.com.tr/ they operate a buss line from Salonika to Istanbul every day 2-3 times. Very reliable. You should expect to pay about €40-50
3 :
As far as I know the train connection is not operated anymore. I don't have any information on buses; for plane tickets, better to check the companies web sites for normal and special offer rates.

Unless you want to spend most of your time wearing a burkha, I'd recommend Russia. Women in Turkey who don't respect the local culture are harassed unmercifully, according to a buddy of mine who is currently stationed at Incirlik Air Base. Why put up with that crap?
2 :
Russia or Turkey, for what? Both are very different places. Russia is more a problem for visa than Turkey. Both countries are not english spoken. and where do you want to go there, in both countrioes are no-go areas for fighting and war.
3 :
I have a friend whose son just came back from Turkey. He was VERY uncomfortable there. He was supposed to stay the full school year, and was so uncomfortable, especially when leaving the central, protected areas, and because of unrest, that he cut his stay short at the end of one semester. I would DEFINITELY not recommend Turkey right now, based on that...look more into Russia.
4 :
Turkey's weather is awesome! It is similar to Greece! And Turkey has more greek and roman ruins that Greece and Rome! My advice - pick up a history book and see whose history you like more!
5 :
Ok, it's obvious the first guy who answered your question doesn't know the first thing about Turkey. The air base is pretty much Little America, so I wouldn't trust his friend's perception of Turkey to begin with. First of all, nobody wears a burkha in Turkey, and only some women wear headscarves. In fact, until this last academic year, it was illegal to even wear the headscarf on university campus. Secondly, the culture is so warm and friendly. You will be treated like their guest the whole time you are there. It's not really that dangerous. It's really affordable, and has great places to visit on the weekends and holidays. I would recommend, dying your hair, though, if you're blonde, and don't like guys staring at you. Also, find a trustworthy man (prefferably American) to keep an eye out for you. Respectable women don't go out alone after dark in Turkey. Lastly, no matter where you end up going, try to find a least one person from close to home. It helps with adjusting to your new home.

How much money should I take on vacation to Turkey & Greece for 1 week?
I'm an American student going to Turkey for a school trip, but we've decided to extend our stay for some fun downtime. I've already paid for our trains and lodging and just need some advice about how much spending money I should take for food everyday and a few bar nights (plus if there's museums/sites that charge entrance that'd be helpful too). We're going to spend 4 days in Istanbul, 2 in Thessaloniki and 1 in Athens, Greece.

As a foreigner i am going to rent a student house for 6 months in Lisbon, Portugal. Have you any suggestions?
I am a university student in Turkey. Next year 2008 january i will go to ISCTE/ Lisbon by Erasmus program. Through the whole period i stay in Lisbon and in ISCTE they say that there is no dormitories. But i was wondering, if I start living in an apartment on my own, can I able to meet Portugese people and interact multi-culturally more? Can I enjoy Lisbon just like my own country with my friends?

Hi!! or Merhaba! Well About the Dorms I would double check because it's probable they do have dorms..or shared with other universities. As for the School it's great, and for Lisbon xek my blog for info on things to do and links!! http://experienceportugal.blogspot.com/ As for accommodation...ask the school's Student Association for help because they have offers of apartments for rent and usually with other students!
2 :
Here's a site you'll find helpful: http://www.clickflatshare.co.uk/Lisbon/ Good luck!
3 :
Yeah you will def be able to enjoy Lisbon, just make sure u leave your galatasaray jersey home... hahaha.... try looking for apartments on craigslist.com/portugal
4 :
Yes, you can meet Portuguese people.. Just be sure to try to talk to people in your program, or go out sometimes, just to meet people.. Don't be too cooked up. The idea is to meet people the first few days/weeks youre there, then you have friends. We're very friendly, not afraid to talk:)

Student visa in turkey! Help!?
Student visa in turkey! Help!?
Hey everyone, so I was studying in Egypt when the revolution started. Unfortunately, my school forced me to leave and sent me to study in Istanbul, Turkey. I have an acceptance letter from a University here, but I need a student visa. They wont let me to continue to study on tourist visas. They are saying I need to go back to the states to apply for one, as you can imagine that is expensive and very inconvenient for a student. My question is how can I obtain a student visa in Turkey, or in a near by country!? Please help!

Yes you will find people who speak English at school there is a large foreign population the and there kids are going to school as well. In my sons class there are 5 English speaking kids out of a total of 18 kids in his class. You will be okay but learn Turkish and don't only rely on English speaking people
2 :
Don't worry, there are all international students in Alanya, so you won't have any problem with the language as your classmates will probably consist of Russians, Englishs and other people around the world. For better contact, you should at least understand Turkish. Welcome to Turkey! I wish I could live in Alanya, it is like being in summer holiday every single day :)
3 :
If you are to go to a state school, then you will have a hard time with your connection to turkish students as they begin learning english in the fourth grade. However, if your parents send you to a private school, then most of the students would know english because probably in alanya there will be many foreigners and the other turkish students begin learning english in the first grade (also, the teachers would be more helpful).
4 :
There are lots of people who speak proper English in Turkey but comparing to other problems, it is nothing. For example, i don't know where you are from but if you are religious, you should know that you wont probably find your church in Turkey. However; if you're ok with going any church...

You'll have to take TOEFL to prove your English and SAT to prove your ability in Maths and Science. American Universities give lots of importance to your references. So, you should gather lots of references from your teachers and so on. Why don't you write to Universities you are interested in, and they'll write you back. Robert College in Istanbul helps to its students apply to U.S.., phone them and ask for an appointment for advice. The worst they can do is to reject you.

No just like any other countries in the world "in Turkey" foreigners are not allowed to work "unless" they are given working permission or that are employed on the basis of the authority given by law by the ministries, public institutions and establishments, "in other words" the foreigners including you are obliged to get permission before they (you) start to work dependently or independently in Turkey
2 :
you cant work with the student visa, but you can apply to working visa and easily get that (cause your dad works here), once you come.

Turkey does not issue Airport Transit Visa. A visa is not required if you stay in the transit zone and depart the country on the same day. Since Turkish Airlines are arriving from JFK at 9:25 or 16:55 at Instanbul Atatürk Airport and the flight to Karachi departs at 18:45 you stay in compliance with the requirement. Although Turkey is a secular country and is very much Europeanized there are some things that should be followed while traveling in Turkey. Many things have to do with modesty and etiquette such as bringing a pair of long slacks and a jacket (you will need them anyway as sometimes it gets cold at night, even if it was 103 that afternoon). I say this because Mosque and even Catholic Churches are common tourist attraction during orientation of exchange programs and even throughout the year. Also wasting food is not the best thing to do in Turkey. Depending on what kind of dinning experience it is (buffet or a host family) you will have to react differently. If you are at a buffet it is up to you to monitor your food to not waste.... As for host families just pray that they stop putting food on your plate because as a guest they are eager to please you with their delicious food even if you are full. Other than that there is actually nothing written in stone if you are not a rude person you should be fine. The Turks seem to like everyone and will be happy to have you to diversify their schools. By the way I am also going to be studying abroad next year where are you going? I can definitely tell you more if you have any questions

Could I apply for a student visa in Canadian embassy in Ankara, Turkey?
I am an Iranian student. I am currently residing and studying in North Cyprus. I started my studies almost a year ago. I need to know whether I could apply for a student visa in Canadian embassy in Ankara, Turkey. I am doubtful because Canada has an embassy in Iran unlike the US. If the answer is yes, what are the documents I need? In particular, do I need a police certificate from Iran? Thanks

Teheran is a satellite office of the Canadian Embassy in Ankara, you may address your application to the Embassy in Ankara. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp#i .. The required documents are listed here, a police certificate is not among them. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how-documents.asp ..

i had a valid student visa for a year in turkey last 2007. I went back here in the philippines for personal reason without completing my course. unfortunately, my visa has been expired. I would like to know if I need to apply for a new one or it is possible for me to renew it. thanks...

You have to renew one. It is because you leave turkey, and did not return before the visa expired. You can only renew a visa when you are still in that country.

Without a valid visa you are not allowed to stay in Turkey. Your former papers have nothing to do with this new stay.
i had a valid student visa for a year in turkey last 2007.
