how to relocate from prague to turkey?
I studied in Prague and now want to settle in Kusadasi, Turkey. Need to move belongings from storage in Prague. Books, clothes, fragile kitchen utilities I really hate to surrender. IKEA ergo study table and chair i really need for work, that which i am not finding around here either, so I would really love to move it here. Int'l removal company quoted me about 2000euro, not including customs. Ridiculous. I was a student in Prague. Wonder if anyone has bright ideas. I'm still transitioning from student status to looking for work - money scarce. Thought about Bussing from prague to athens, change from athens to istanbul, With about 10 boxes of luggage this is just a little scary to me. Definitely can't move furniture this way. Thank you in advance.

I would suggest you think about not taking furniture with you because all apartments are furnished and usually have a large wooden dining table with chairs that you could work on, which would probably be much larger than your Ikea table. Be aware that you will be entering Turkey only on a tourist visa which lasts only for 90 days, then you have to leave the country, normal boat over the Kos in Greece for the day and then get your visa stamped when you re-enter Turkey which entitles you to another 90 days (but a new law is coming in soon preventing you from doing this), that's if you have no work permit, and they are making it increasingly difficult for foreigners to get them. It is almost impossible to get a work permit, if you work without one you stand the chance of being deported. I know all of this because a good friend of mine who is a highly qualified English Teacher could not get a work permit there. Hope this gives you some incite into the hurdles you face. :)) You could buy a residents permit which lasts for 6 months for about 200 euros.

"You could buy a residents permit which lasts for 6 months for about 200 euros." it's not that smooth http://www.invest.gov.tr/en-US/investmentguide/investorsguide/comingtoturkey/Pages/HowToGetAResidencePermit.aspx i think you should sell your furniture and bring your personal stuff only for all that stuff, that company seems like the easiest way, if the cargo companies dont charge you more
