I vacationed in the Turkish Riviera for 2 weeks, and I found that it paled in comparison to other Mediterranean destinations. The water and the beaches are not very clean, however the shopping is EXCELLENT!

my list would be: 1. Istanbul (for history, culture and to see how east blends with west) You should visit Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia, The Grand Bazaar (great for shopping), Topkapi palace, Bosphorus Bridge, Ortakoy, have a boat trip... and if you have time, you should visit: 2. Cappadocia (to see how miracles can happen on earth) 3. Fethiye Region (to enjoy the sun, sand and sea) I hope you enjoy your stay there, and will have the chance to see these places... have a nice and safe trip:))

For an italian, our southern may have different versions you can see in Italia, i recommend you to visit Eastern Black Sea region from Ordu to Georgian border. Nothing looks like Italia except hazelnut.

Turkey has a lot of nice tourish destinations. I would reccomend purchasing (or finding in a library) a book called Eye Witness Guide to Turkey, if you are planning a trip here or want to know more about it in general. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea... A great thing about Turkey is that they are very open and frienly to foreigners. It seems like the Turks are generally interested in knowing more about foreign people. However, they will always ask you questions about what you think about Turkey. People are very nationalistic here. But, they have the right to be because they have a great country and a very interesting culture. Turkey is a great travel destination. Since the Byzantine and Ottoman Empries were both centered here, and the Roman and Greek empires built a lot of cities here, there is a lot of history to see. Also, Istanbul has all the modern nightclubs, cafes, bars, etc. that are really cool. I've partied at the best LA, Buenos Aires, London and New York clubs and I can tell you that Istanbul's nightlife is just as good. So if you are into that scene than Istanbul is the place for you. If you like nice beach towns check out Antalya or Izmir. If you want a less touristy beach destination Mersin would be a good choice. There is also a petrified waterfall in Turkey that I've been wanting to check out. I guess there are some hot springs in a place called Pamukkale, and the minerals in the water there hardened over time. So, you can sit in the hot springs and look at solidified waterfalls. I haven't had a chance to go yet, but it sounds really cool! Definitely don't pass up a chance to visit Turkey if you can! Just like any other place, travel smart. Don't wander into the bad neighborhoods in Istanbul or over by the Iraqi border. You'll be fine.

There are so many things you can see in Istanbul.First of all, Aghia Sofia, the big Basilica the symbol of Byzantine times. In the same olace, Sultanahmet square, are the principal monuments, such as top Kapi, Blue Mosque, Aghia Irini.Dont forget to visit Fener, in Keratios, where it is situated theOrthodox Patriarcate,Kariye Cami today(Moni tis Choras). The cistwerns als, the archeologic museum, and a tour to the islands(Prighipos-Buyukada)worths the effort, and a tour also in the asiatic part. In the asiatic part of Istanbul, which is very developped, i suggest you also the destrict of Bostanci, very elegant, and fom there oyu take the boat to the islands. In the other part, dont miss the Istiklal Caddesi(Megali Odos tou Pera)so animated, the church of the Trinity, and the school of Zappeion.Eat kazandibi in Nisantasi(an elegant destrict).. Visit the Tower of Galata, and the closed Bazar... For this wonderful city, we need pages to write. Now, cponcerning nthew other aprts fo Turkey, i suggest you the thrkish Capri, which means Marmaris. It is all green, so beautiful, and with a castle on it..Thats why they call it green Marmaris. It ois calm, so many people yet, but Icmeler, Turunc are 2 wonderful places where you will see also small artificial lakes.. Bodrum too, famous for its nightlife, Kusadasi, and absolutely, Efesos, Militos, Didima,Pamukkale... Turkey is safe, there is no problem, you ll see police everywhere, dont worry. To eat it is cheap, clean, and there is a very good service.. Happy holidays, or Buona vacanza in italian...

Kushadashi is nice because its right by effesus and the virgin marys house. Pumalakke.. i didnt spell that right.. the cotton cotton castle was fun and the town is quaint. Just watch out with the men in Istanbul.. they are nothing but sweet talkers which is fun and first and then the hustle and bustle gets to you a little
